THE SHIFT MOVIE REVIEW: (MY 2 CENTS)

The Shift movie review

Over the weekend, I went to see The Shift with my women’s bible study group (Love these Ladies 💜) and I left the movie feeling rather unsettled, and that’s putting it mildly…

First, a little background – this movie is a modern take / re-telling of the story of Job.

Second, good vs. not so good in the story line: (couldn’t think of a better way to say this…)

THE GOOD:

The Empty Tomb Necklace – the necklace was a symbol of hope, life and resurrection.

Choices: We make choices in our life, for or against our savior

Self: These choices usually have to do with whether we choose to focus on our needs or focus on the needs of others

THE DEVIL IS A LIAR! DON’T FORGET THIS, EVER!

Helping others even when we have next to nothing

I really hated satan even more after watching this movie… 😁

THE NOT SO GOOD:

Choices again: In the movie, you appear to be forced, terrorized, bullied and coerced into choosing the enemy, if you dare to appose him.

The running theme throughout the movie focuses on darkness / the power of darkness (there is very little light and very little hope until the last 3 minutes) and the devil / the benefactor, who seems to be in control, can shift you into realities you do not choose, if you don’t do as he says.

WHAT SCRIPTURE SAYS:

The devil does NOT have this authority over us! he only has the authority we choose to give him.

We are not victims without any control, we are given authority over the enemy at the cross, when we choose to believe in Jesus Christ. (for whatever reason, they chose not to use Jesus name in the movie, as I can recall)

You have power and authority over darkness in Jesus name!

You are a light that dispels darkness and You Stand for Him!

The enemy runs when He sees you, because you SHINE for Jesus!

THIS IS WHO YOU ARE CREATED TO BE – a shining light on a hill!

Note: Do we go through tests? Yes, however even in our tests which strengthens and builds our characters, when we choose to focus on Jesus, we have tremendous light, we have hope, because we know who Jesus is, we trust Him, we know he has got us and it makes the tests much easier to go through to get you to your promised land, to get you to your purpose!

This is a group for Warrior’s and my job is to remind you of who you are and the authority you have, until you believe it!

So as far as the movie goes, great acting – it just gave the enemy more power over us than He actually has – and left you feeling more hopeless, than hopeful – not really a great selling point for Christianity
